Reducing Dispensing Time with 80:20 Dispensing

The dispensary design for Cincotta Discount Chemist Neutral Bay utilises two Sintek stock storage systems as shown in diagram 1.

The high volume (that is, fast moving) products are stored in 5 bays of 400mm deep StockFlow shelves. These shelves are placed immediately behind the prescription assembly work station. Product selection time would be a maximum of 3 seconds. These 5 bays of StockFlow store about 350 products (many of which are in double or triple facings).

The low volume (that is, slow moving) products are stored in a 4 bay Rombic sloping drawer system. The product selection time would be a maximum of 5 seconds. The 4 bay Rombic could store up to about 1,000 products.

This pharmacy has used StockFlow and Rombic for its dispensary stock storage ever since it was established in December 1988.

This combination of StockFlow and Rombic can store products for up to 300 prescriptions per day.
